Catch: the hold not taken

‘Catch: the hold not taken’ celebrates the art of Lancashire ‘Catch-as-catch-can’ wrestling and its amateur and professional development.

The film contrasts the billion dollar phenomenon of professional wrestling with its humble roots.  “Catch: the hold not taken” traces the origins of the sport in Lancashire and focuses in particular on Billy Riley’s ‘Snake Pit’ in Wigan.

Includes interviews with some of the foremost names in world wrestling, from US Olympic Gold Medallist Dan Gable, to ‘all-in’ cage fighter, Dan Severn – a former wrestler and former Ultimate Fighting Champion – to the biggest name in Japanese professional wrestling: Tatsumi Fujinami.

The film is no longer available on DVD.
