Shankly: Nature’s Fire explores the remarkable life and career of Bill Shankly, the legendary Liverpool Football Club manager.
Perhaps no one before or since Shankly has personified the spirit of the working class culture that gave birth to the modern game. Shankly’s passion for football was boundless to the point of obsession.
The film tries to understand who Shankly was, where he came from and the loyalty and passion he inspired.
Two years in the making, filming was finished on the project in May 2017 with an impressive array of contributors involved: players such as Ian St John, Denis Law, Roger Hunt, Kevin Keegan, Steven Gerrard and commentators including legendary sports writer Hugh McIlvanney and author Irvine Welsh, as well as family members and fans.
